Hello! I am so happy to be a part of the Joy Family. I was born, raised and educated in the city of Detroit. After high school I moved to Columbus Ohio where I earned my Associates Degree at Columbus State College. I lived there for ten years and moved to Atlanta Georgia where I resided for ten years. I earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Oglethorpe University, and Post Bachelors’ Special Education certification at Brenau University. In 2001 I moved back to Detroit and earned a Master’s Degree in Special Education. I attended the University of Detroit and had an opportunity to study abroad. I spent two summers (2004, 2005) touring Northern Italy and Southern Italy. I climbed two volcanos Vesuvius and Etna. What a great time that was. I went on to teach Adult Basic Education and GED preparation for eight years. I was introduced to JPA through my employment at Focus Hope. I joined JPA’s board and after two years I resigned my position with the board to become a full time teacher. I love teaching!
