Joy Preparatory Academy opened its doors in 1999 to offer Detroit area families a new, quality option in public school education. The academy now serves over 450 students on two campuses.

In 2007-08, 90% of our students received free/reduced price lunch; 100% were minority students and 9% received special education services. We serve all students - regardless of economic or educational disadvantage.

Joy Preparatory Academy operates under the founding belief that every child can and will learn.  And, we provide the one-on-one attention, relevant instruction and caring attention needed to ensure that happens!

We have a caring, certified and highly qualified instructional staff - and our school operates in a

family-friendly environment. Plus, with less than a 20:1 student-teacher ratio, and through state-of-the-art technology, we are able to pay close attention to the progress of each child.
